I feel the need to highlight this photo of an elderly woman in a wheelchair who was enjoying the Krewe of Nyx parade last night. Unfortunately, she was across Jefferson Ave. from us, so it was very difficult to get photographs that truly told the story. Her husband (and a few other family members) were helping catch beads and other throws for her. He would walk back to the sidewalk and lovingly drape the beads around her neck or decorate her hat with them. They were both smiling and laughing. It was such a touching display of love and devotion that we got a little choked up just watching. May we all be made to feel so special even when we are old.
